Migrating to America

Albert Clarke and Mary Elizabeth Denton Clarke, and their young son Percy migrated from Northamptonshire to America in 1895.  Albert wanted a greater role in the Methodist church, but it was not available to him in England as a married man.

They stayed in touch with their relatives in England, visiting twice that I know of.  They took their kids, including our grandfather John Clarke, who was born in America in 1896.  There are several photographs of family reunions over the years.  Grandpa maintained the tradition, as did our Dad, Bob Clarke, and now a few of us in the boomer generation.

30th Anniversary of Bunting Road House

On the deck.
The view from the deck
On the Labor Day weekend of 1988, we moved into "the mountain house," near Cleveland, Georgia.  We enjoyed many happy times there with family and friends, and just us.

Introduction

Six grandkids starting out
Six grandkids grown
This website traces the ancestry of my parents' grandchildren.  Presently it includes the ancestry of Bob and B.J. Clarke, shared by all six of the grandchildren.  It also includes the ancestry of Louis and Hazel Davis, covering my daughter.  In the future I hope to include, or link to, the ancestry of the Haywood and Turner lines, to cover the other five grandchildren.
